Gone But Not Forgotten

This memorial page is dedicated to all of our courageous Dragon Diva Sisters who have lost their battle against cancer,

but who will always live on in our hearts!

This memorial bench recognizing these wonderful women sits looking out over the waters of Cowichan Bay at Hecate Park; where the Dragon Divas practice and prepare for races.

The inscription reads: In memory of our fallen Cowichan Valley Dragon Diva Sister, Paddles Up!

“Paddles up”, is the call and challenge to every paddler in a dragon boat about to head out on the water.

The Divas we remember with love are:  Pat McArthur, Lucy Child, Gerry Robbins, Lori Aven, Wendy Mayert, Joan Pope and Sharon Ramshaw.

At many race festivals, we remember and honour these special dragon boaters with a carnation ceremony.  A time for tears, memories and most of all hope, that we will beat cancer, once and for all!

Gone, but never forgotten!
